We're ok

You may have heard that there is lots of rain/storms/flooding in Iowa.
It's true. We've had lots of boom storms and LOTS and LOTS of rain lately.

We're ok! The old house (which will no longer be ours at the end of the month) has not taken in any water. Many in town had 3+ " in basements. Ours has been 100% dry.

We're high and dry in our new place, although the ditch in the front keeps getting filled with water. The Monkey (now 4) was playing in it tonight.

The town where mom went to school (Ames, Iowa-home to Iowa State University-GO CYCLONES) is flooded. Hilton Coliseum, where the basketball teams play, was under 15 feet of water the last mom heard. The parking lots are flooded, the roads are flooded, lots of places are closed. On top of it, a water main broke and now the people in Ames have no safe, clean water for drinking/showering. They have a boil order. Say a prayer for them, ok?

The highway by us (Hwy 30) may or may not close (again). It closed last month due to flooding. It's inconvenient to say the least, but the parents deal. Fingers and toes crossed it doesn't flood out of the banks/across the road again.

We've acclimated to the new place. Mom starts back to school in 2 weeks so she's getting excited and nervous. The Little Monkey had a birthday last month and so did mom.

Us-we get to go outside sometimes! It's AWESOME!
